How the figure is built

The state tax on a residential dwelling is marginal: 0.75% on the first $800,000, 1.25% from $800,000 to $2,500,000, and 2.25% above that. Commercial property is a flat 1.25% on the full price, and unimproved land and non-dwelling residential property are a flat 0.75%.

The municipal tax is 0.25% in most towns. Sixteen municipalities charge 0.50%, two eligible towns charge the base rate anyway, and Stamford charges a stepped rate that applies to the entire price. Seewhich towns charge more.
